Where are the best places to see whale sharks in Mexico?
For Captain Whale Shark, the best place to swim with whale sharks in Mexico is near Isla Contoy.
Whale Sharks are usually located around 30 miles north the island (Isla Contoy). It has the record of the largest whale shark segregation ever registered with over 200 specimens at once.
Also, its location allows you to swim very comfortable due to its warm waters. To not forget that visibility is also a plus due to the turquoise crystal waters of the Caribbean. If you are lucky, you might see giant mantas, turtles and dolphins.
Isla Contoy is a protected area, which means that the only way to go is by a tour from Cancun and from Isla Mujeres.
Holbox is a great option, with a total different experience. Eventhough it is located relatively close to Cancun, Holbox is located by the Gulf of Mexico.
